Ingredients:
2 cloves
1 medium onion, peeled
1 small bay leaf
450ml (3/4 pint) milk
75g (3 oz) fresh breadcrumbs
salt and pepper
15g (1/2 oz) butter or margarine
20ml (2 tablespoons) single cream
Putting it together:
Stick the cloves into the onion and place in a saucepan with the bay
leaf and milk.
Bring slowly to the boil, remove from the heat.
Cover and let stand for about 10 minutes.
Remove the onion and bay leaf.
Add the breadcrumbs and seasoning.
Return to the heat, cover and simmer for 10 - 15 minutes.
Stir in the butter and cream.
